Ali Crawford is hoping to make a small piece of history when Rovers face Oldham Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
Crawford said that the match offers an excellent chance for Rovers to progress to the fifth round of the cup for the first time for 53 years.
“It’s a massive opportunity for us,” he said.
“It’s not going to be easy. We’ve seen in the last round that Oldham have knocked out Premier League opposition in Fulham so it’s going to be a tough game but we’ll be ready and raring to go. We want to put on a good performance for the fans.
“The club have not been in the fifth round for 50 years so it’s something that could give the fans and the club a bit of history.”
This is the first time Rovers have been drawn at home in the FA Cup this season and Crawford is looking forward to playing in front of a busy Keepmoat Stadium.
“It’s good to see the Oldham fans have sold out their allocation. It’ll help create a really good atmosphere,” he said.
“This is the first time we’ve been drawn at home so that’s important. Hopefully, we can fill our home stands and create a big occasion.
“If we get through this, we’re almost guaranteed to play Championship or Premier League opposition in the next round and that would be something we’d look forward to but first and foremost, we have to take care of Oldham on Saturday.”
