Ali Crawford says he has been practising his set-piece delivery after his stunning free-kick against Rochdale in Sky Bet League One.

The Scottish midfielder scored from the tightest of angles in the 5-0 win, which helped Rovers climb back into the play-off places.

He said: “We were excellent from start to finish, we came out of the blocks firing and getting the early goal always helps.

“I haven’t had too many free-kicks go in from that angle, but I do work on my delivery every day to make sure I’m improving.

“I wanted to put it in an area where the goalkeeper didn’t know whether to come for it, and thankfully it went over his head and in the net.”

The victory over Dale was Rovers’ biggest league win of the season so far, and Crawford says confidence is high in the dressing room.

He added: “We’ve been good in the past couple of games in taking our chances, it’s something we’ve been working on a lot in training.

“We could have had more but I think getting the five is good enough, we have been more clinical recently which is what the manager wants.

“We’ve got a very strong squad and everyone knows if they don’t play well then somebody can come on off the bench and make a difference.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Burton Albion on Saturday January 19, with tickets available from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
