Kieran Sadlier praised the young Rovers side who drew 3-3 with a strong Everton team in the Premier League Cup on Monday evening.

Goals from Sadlier, Alfie May, and Myron Gibbons meant Rovers Development side shared the points with an Everton U23s team who hadn’t conceded a goal in their previous three matches.

“I think all the boys were brilliant,” said Sadlier.

“It was a shame to let the lead slip as I think we got ourselves into a good position at 3-1 up and we were playing some good football.

“In large spells we were the better team, they passed the ball around nicely as you’d expect, but our work rate was second to none.”

The match also provided Sadlier with his first chance to play a full 90 minutes since joining the club.

“It was nice to get 90 minutes for the first time since November,” he added.

“It’s something that I’ve lacked recently with the little injury which I picked up in another U23s game. It was nice to get through the match today and it feels good.

“I feel fit and this game will have benefited me massively. I’m fit and ready to go when called upon. It will be nice to make my home debut but that’s down to the manager. I’ll work hard in training and see what happens.”
