John Schofield praised his side’s second-half display in a 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic reserves in the Central League North.

A double from Tommy Rowe along with a clinical Myron Gibbons finish secured the victory, and Schofield felt his team stepped up a gear after the break.

He said: “It was terrible conditions with the snow and puddles on the pitch, but it’s the same for both teams and you just have to get on with it.

“It affected both teams at times when we were trying to play but overall I thought we gave it a good go and played it in the right spirit.

“We have a way of playing at the football club and it’s important we stick to that no matter what the conditions are.”

Rowe was one of several of first-team players to feature in the game, and Schofield says that was another positive to take from it.

He said: “Football is all about winning but we always take positives, we’ve got some good minutes into players and had a lot of young boys in the side.

“If you take out Tommy Rowe and Ali Crawford then the average age would have been around 19 so they’ve done really well.

“It was good for Tommy to get two goals, and then Myron came on and had a fantastic first touch before finding the finish.”

Rovers will return to the Keepmoat Stadium on February 9 when they face Peterborough in Sky Bet League One. Tickets for this fixture can be purchased from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
