Paul Stancliffe shared his delight after his side fought back from a goal down to run out 3-1 winners against Mansfield Town. Victory meant Rovers keep the pressure on the top of the league just three points behind and with a game in hand.
Marius Conradi, Rieves Boocock and Branden Horton were all on target for the U18s after they salvaged three points after conceding early to John Dempster’s side.
Stancliffe said: “It was a thoroughly deserved result today. You’d enter Branden’s and Rieves’ goals for goal of the month competitions because they were absolutely brilliant, certainly with Branden’s right foot. I’m absolutely delighted with them all today.
“It’s something we’re not used to playing on astroturf and it wasn’t something we were aware of so again another positive is that we’ve managed to adapt quickly, to challenge and still get a positive result and performance.”
Stancliffe spoke of how Rovers were aware of Mansfield’s threats and had done plenty of preparation in the week to nullify their opponents.
He added: “You always know what to expect when you come to Mansfield, you always expect a battle and that’s what we got.
“We spoke about it all week and have worked on that and the biggest danger for us was to react in a negative way but we didn’t, we kept our cool and composure.
“I’m absolutely delighted with the lads as they’ve managed to execute the game plan very well.”
Rovers will return to the Keepmoat Stadium on February 9 when they face Peterborough in Sky Bet League One. Tickets for this fixture can be purchased from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
