Rovers’ U9-U11 teams will participate in the IDA International Cup 2019 at The Queens Ethelburgas School.
The tournament will see some of the best youth academies and grassroot teams from the UK meet at one of the best sporting facilities in the country. Lead foundation phase coach Tom Sutton will take charge of the experience.
Sutton said: “We are delighted to be entertaining the IDA International Cup at U9-U11s, the level of teams involved, the scale of the tournament and the manor in which it will be played will provide our players with a really good challenge at all age groups.
“As an academy management team we have reviewed last seasons games programme and although we were pleased with many elements, we felt the need for greater competition within the schedule was important to continue to drive the development of our players.
“We will always focus on the development of our players ahead of winning but realise the need for our players to be placed under pressure and to learn to thrive under competitive conditions. We are always looking to try new things within our programme and organised and number of noisy and out of balance festivals last season that we will build upon this year.”
Our U9, 10 and 11s will be represented in the tournament at different dates which takes place across the month of August. You can see what teams will be in Rovers' group here.
Younger academy age groups reported back for pre-season training on July 15.
