Blair: New lads are already in tune

5 July 2019

Matty Blair says the new signings have settled into the squad quickly after joining the rest of the squad on the pre-season training camp.

Reece James, Brad Halliday and Madger Gomes braved the traditional induction song on Wednesday evening - a key milestone in welcoming any new face into the first-team group.

Blair said: “They seem great, all got up with confidence and sang their songs well. On the pitch as well they look very sharp and raring to go.

“It has been a very good week, we’ll get some great fitness out of it it. The benefits of warm weather training are there for all to see, it’s always nice to come stay for five days to get to know the new lads.”

The Rovers players return to the United Kingdom on Friday evening and will have their first outing of pre-season on Tuesday night when they head to local non-league side Rossington Main,

Blair added: “We’ve put a lot of work in here and I think we’ll get 45 minutes each on Tuesday, which will be a good test again as we get some match fitness into our legs as we build up towards the start of the season.”
