Promising midfielder Lirak Hasani feels recharged and ready to go after reporting for pre-season training on Thursday morning.
The 17-year-old joined in with Rovers’ senior squad in training at Cantley Park where they underwent several fitness tests throughout the day.
Hasani said: “It feels really good to be back after a rest. I’ve had a good off-season and I have been working hard, trying to stay fit and to make sure that my fitness is as high as possible for when I came back and ready to go as soon as the new manager wants me.
“We are just doing some testing to see how our body fat is, doing some jump testing and all the usual check-ups before getting the balls out in the afternoon.”
Last year Rovers’ U18s – which heavily included Hasani – came second to Grimsby in their league. He believes that his team can use last season as motivation to push-on for more success this year.
He added: “The fact that we came so close with the U18s motivates us as a team to try and win it again and for me to personally try and get more appearances in the first-team and be in and around for as long as I can.
“It was a positive season and was disappointing to come up short with it at the very last second but hopefully we can make it right this season and win the league.”
Hasani has travelled with the first-team to La Manga Club as part of an intense week of pre-season training. You can keep up with everything that's going on in Spain via the weekly Inside Rovers episodes on iFollow Rovers.
