Reece James says Rovers’ performances against Sunderland last season helped entice him to swop the Stadium of Light for the Keepmoat Stadium.
The left-back moved to Rovers this summer, and said the way his new side performed against his former team-mates helped convince him it was the right move.
He said: “In both games I thought Rovers were a really good team who played attractive football, it was really exciting and was a big pull to bring me here.
“I’ve won the league twice and know what it takes, and was in the play-off final last year, I’ve not come here just to make up the numbers and finish in mid-table.”
