Darren Moore has praised the Rovers’ squad attitude and work ethic after the clubs pre-season preparations concluded with a draw against Sky Bet Championship side Hull City.

Rovers put in a performance to be proud of against opposition from the league above after goals from James Coppinger and new signing Madger Gomes rounded-off a productive month of pre-season games.

Moore said: “The performance was a continuation from Wednesday evening. Once we got to grips with the game after the opening period, I felt we controlled the game right the way until the end.

“They’re disappointed they haven’t won the game but the biggest thing for me in pre-season is the performance. It was the best performance I’ve seen so far because the balance of the team was better and the understanding of the work we’ve put in was better.

“TSaturday was a stamp mark for how I want to play and how we want to go as a team. We set the formula but the players have to bring their ability, which they did today. It was good to see a good understanding and connection along with some fluidity which provided a cutting-edge.”

The boss was delighted with the fitness levels of his players which he believes is a testament to their work ethic.

He added: “Their fitness levels are second-to-none and as a group they train well everyday. From the moment they step foot in Cantley Park they train well and that adds to the fitness levels. Today I was very pleased with their overall physical condition.

“They’ll be in good shape for next week and we’ll do some more work on the training ground in preparation. I’m pleased that we get a clear week where we can just focus on working the entire time and preparing for Gillingham.”

The 2019/20 season begins on Saturday August 3. Rovers kick-off their campaign by hosting Gillingham FC at home. Get your season ticket or your match ticket to back the boys at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
