Rovers loan Arsenal youngster Sheaf

12 July 2019

Rovers have completed the loan signing of promising Arsenal youngster Ben Sheaf, who can play in defence or midfield.

The 21-year-old has penned a six-month loan deal to become the first signing made by Darren Moore since his return to the club as manager.

He said: “I’ve played at centre-back in the past couple of seasons but I was in midfield prior to that - but I enjoy either and will do my best.

“I like to get on the ball and make things happen, I’m really excited and looking forward to getting going now.

Sheaf has been a regular in Arsenal’s U23 side, with a Europa League substitute appearance and 10 games in Sky Bet League Two with Stevenage under his belt. He is targeting regular senior football as the next step on his development.

He added: “I’m really happy to take this step up, I feel like I’m past U23s football now and this is a great opportunity to get experience in the men’s game.

“I just want to get in and settled down and know the boys, then impress the new manager.”
