Kieran Sadlier felt Rovers more than matched Hull City in the 2-2 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Darren Moore’s side concluded their pre-season campaign with a solid performance against Sky Bet Championship opposition, and Sadlier was pleased with the display.
He said: “I thought we played really well, the first ten or 15 minutes we caused problems for ourselves but then we got to grips with it.
“They’ve got good players and players who make you pay when you make mistakes, but overall we controlled the game.
“I really enjoyed playing a bit further up the pitch and it’s something I can do and it allows me to work off other people.”
Ahead of his first full season with the club, Sadlier is looking to make his mark in South Yorkshire by getting himself on the score-sheet more often.
He added: “I came in midway through last season and managed to get a couple of goals to help the team get into the play-offs.
“I played a lot of football over a long period of time and it was good to get a break over the summer to refresh.
“My aim is to play as many games as I can and hopefully get into areas where I can make a difference.”
