Sheaf pleased with Huddersfield run out

25 July 2019

Ben Sheaf says it was good to test himself against Sky Bet Championship opposition in the pre-season friendly against Huddersfield Town.

Rovers were beaten 2-0 in the midfielder’s first appearance at the Keepmoat Stadium, but he says the workout was a good one.

He said: “It was a good effort from the boys and it was nice personally to get 90 minutes against a good opposition.

“They’re in the Championship now but still have a lot of players that were plying their trade in the Premier League last season.

“I’m feeling in good shape, training has been tough but enjoyable and not the focus is on getting through one more game before the season starts.

Sheaf was Darren Moore’s first signing after arriving on loan from Arsenal, and says he is enjoying working with the manager.

He added: “The manager has brought a lot of enthusiasm into the place and the boys are all enjoying working under him.

“He wants us to be organised but then once we get into the final third to express ourselves and finish off chances.”
