Joe Wright has enjoyed forming a central defensive partnership with Tom Anderson ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The defender completed 90 minutes alongside his partner Tom Anderson during a run-out against Grimsby Town on Saturday, the first time he has managed a full game in 2019 after an injury hit 2018-19 campaign.
He said: “It’s really good being back, this was the first time I’ve come through 90 minutes since the injury and it feels really good.
“There were times last season where when me and Tom were out of the team together so we’ve spent time in the gym together or worked on our shape in training together, so Tom knows my game and I know his so I think we’ve jelled really well.”
Wright has enjoyed rekindling his partnership with new signing Brad Halliday, whom he previously played with at Accrington Stanley, and is looking forward to locking-horns with his former club Huddersfield Town in Wednesday’s pre-season friendly.
He added: “I played with Brad at Accrington and he played the same there where he liked to get up and down the pitch. He’s got great energy about him and it is the same with Reece, when I was a young lad at Huddersfield he was on loan there and I watched him quite a few times.
“They both have great energy and both like to get forward but are also great at defending so they are both really positive signings for the club.”
