James Coppinger has enjoyed his short break from football, but is as excited as ever for the start of his 16th season at Rovers.
The 38-year-old has already started his own fitness regime to ensure he is ready to go when the players return to Cantley Park for pre-season training later in June.
He said: “Over the close season you get to be in a different environment because it is intense when you are a professional footballer, you sacrifice a lot and you give up a lot and to have six or seven weeks where you can just let go and relax and enjoy the things you can’t do when you’re playing.
“When you have three kids I don’t think you can ever relax, though, but it is good to have some time down and spend some time with the family.”
Coppinger continues to set landmarks for appearances at Rovers, and will head into 2019/20 as determined to succeed as when he first arrived in 2004.
He added: “I am looking forward to this season and seeing what it brings. We’ve got a fantastic group of players and staff and it will be an interesting time to try and beat what we achieved last season.”
Rush week is now on! Rovers fans can pick up individual match tickets at a discounted price saving up to £4 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Club Doncaster Box Office or online by visiting tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
