Rovers boss Grant McCann is pleased with the addition of left-back Reece James to his squad.
James joins on a permanent transfer from Sunderland, with Rovers paying an undisclosed fee to the Black Cats for his services.
Grant said: “He has a lot of experience of this league, having won promotion with Wigan then going very close with Sunderland last season.
“He was our main target for this position and I’m really pleased to have secured his services for the coming seasons.”
Grant is close to completing a number of other signings as he finalises his squad ahead of the start of pre-season training.
He added: “We’ve agreements for more players to come into the squad which we’ll be announcing over the coming days.
“We’ve got a good core group already contracted to the club and I’m confident that with the additions we’ve secured we will build on last season and challenge for promotion.”
