Matty Blair has said Rovers will regain form ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Blackpool after a bad day in the country’s capital.

John Marquis saw red as a Rovers fell to a 2-0 defeat to bottom placed AFC Wimbledon, but Rovers are still in sixth place in Sky Bet League One with teams around them also failing to pick up points.

“It was a bad day for us, we weren’t at our best,” Blair admitted.

“We never really got going. We were playing some good football in spells but without really creating too much. If you look at the games where we’ve been successful, we’ve been at it and I mean really at it. We did that today in parts, but we need to get to where we we’re doing that for 90 minutes, we need to play on the front foot and get up the pitch.

“The sending off obviously changed the game, we were down to ten men for forty minutes but for ten or fifteen minutes it almost revitalised us, it seemed to give us that extra bit of energy that we’d lacked in the first half.  We even started playing better football, but it was a big ask to win the game from there.”

Blair has said that the side will put the disappointment behind them as they focus on Tuesday’s evening’s trip to Blackpool.

“That game has gone now. It hurts at the moment, it’ll hurt on the way home and this evening but tomorrow it’s gone, and we need to refocus on Tuesday,” he said.

“Blackpool will be on a high with the new board coming in. They’ll have a big crowd and we’ll have to match their energy and work rate. If we do that, our quality will show.”
