Matty Blair has said Rovers are capable of beating anyone in the league as the team prepare to travel to Luton Town on Saturday.

Luton are 25 games unbeaten and are yet to lose at home in the 2018/19 season but Blair is confident Rovers have what it takes to cause an upset at Kenilworth Road.

“I believe that, on our day, we’re the best team in the league but we’re just not the most consistent. For me, we have nine games to go and we have the ability to win all nine,” he said.

“We’ve got Luton next and they obviously haven’t lost at home all season so it’s going to be a really tough game. We played them back in September and they are definitely the best side we’ve played.

“We’re concentrating on ourselves, making sure that the performance levels are high, keeping the energy levels like they were against Barnsley. We took a lot of confidence from that game, we know the quality we have within the team to win the game.”

Blair has a good record against Luton. He scored a wonder-goal against the side earlier in the season and, while playing at York, scored a vital equaliser against the Hatters in the FA Trophy semi-final and the winning goal in the 2012 Conference play-off final at Wembley.

“They’re a team I’ve got a good record against and I do like to play against Luton. It does give you a bit of a boost knowing you have a good record against them but I’ll give it everything like I always do and hopefully I can help us win the game,” he added.

“We’ve given ourselves a massive opportunity to something very special this season. If you’d said to us in the summer that we’d be in sixth place with nine games to go and it’ll be in our own hands, I think everyone in the football club would have been happy with that.

“We’re a bit disappointed that we’re not higher, we all think we should have picked up more points but there’s a real excitement and enthusiasm about where we are and where we can end up. Out of everyone in the play-off places at the moment, I can guarantee all the managers are saying: we don’t want to play against Doncaster Rovers.”
