Paul Stancliffe felt his team reaped the reward for their hard work against Bradford City as they close in the gap on league-leaders Grimsby Town.

Goals from Jack Stainrod and Jack Watson ensured Rovers well earnt three points. While Max Jemson was introduced to the defence and kept a cleansheet.

He said: “It was a solid display from us today – they were very hard working and they had to do that because Bradford are a good team.

“They’re probably the only team this year that has consistently caused us problems throughout all games, going back to when we play them at their place. I thought they were a good team then but they’ve just backed it up then.

“I was delighted with todays result. We knew it was going to be tough but you can always guarantee these boys will work hard and that’s what has got that result today.”

First year Stainrod scored on his debut from a well-executed corner routine, as he made an impressive appearance while on trial from a local South Yorkshire club.

He added: “We’ve had a look at Jack – he’s been training with us all week – obviously with his performance today we will have to sit down and have a chat about it. If he can be as half as good as his dad was, Simon Stainrod, then I think we’ll be alright.

“We could have probably got more goals from set plays today and it was pleasing today that we could get the result based off the hard work we do on these on the training pitch.”
