John Marquis and Herbie Kane have been named in Sky Bet League One Team of the Year while Marquis has also been shortlisted for League One Player of the Year.
All shortlists have been revealed for the eagerly-anticipated 2019 EFL Awards, taking place on Sunday April 7 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London.
For the highest honour awarded in League One, Marquis faces competition from Luton Town’s talisman James Collins – who is the league’s leading scorer – and Aiden McGeady – who has contributed 15 goals and five assists to Sunderland promotion push.
Che Adams, Teemu Pukki and Billy Sharp are nominated for Sky Bet Championship player of the year and Danny Mayor, Jay O’Shea, and James Norwood are competing for League Two Player of the Year.
Awards will be given out across 13 categories, with players, managers, clubs and legends of the game set to be honoured and recognised for their achievements. The shortlists were created after all 72 EFL managers were invited to vote for their players of the season, with votes also compiled for the Championship, League One and League Two Teams of the Season.
On that evening, Matty Blair will be recieving his PFA League One Community Player of the Year and will find out whether he has won the overall Community Player of the Year award.
Other awards to be announced on the night include the AmazeRealise Family Club of the Year, Checkatrade Community Club of the Year, LFE Apprentice of the Year, YouGov Sport Supporter of the Year, and the Community Education Football Alliance (CEFA) Players of the Season.
