John Schofield praised Rieves Boocock’s clinical finishing after the striker rescued a point for the Rovers’ Development side against Morecambe at Cantley Park.

Boocock got on the end of a cross from Elliott Walker to secure a 1-1 draw in Central League North, and Schofield says he is always looking to improve his game.

He said: “To be fair to Rieves he’s scored a lot of goals this season, if you can be clinical at any level on a consistent basis then people will take note.

“I tell him to look at what John Marquis does and learn from that, regardless of his goals you know exactly what you’re going to get from him.

“John is one of the lads who will help Rieves and go through the clips in terms of where he sees areas for improvement.”

With a three first-team games coming up in less than a week, Schofield sees it as an opportunity for some of the younger players to be involved in the matchday squads.

“With a few first team games coming up it gives them a chance to be involved as we saw with AJ Greaves getting on the bench against Shrewsbury.

“It gives them an opportunity and it’s about producing when they’re joining in training or playing in these games, they have to be the best they can be.”
