Club Doncaster launch five week Festival of Sport

Club Doncaster launch five-week Festival of Sport in a association with Get Doncaster Moving.

The Festival of Sport is taking place at the Club Doncaster Sports Village - it began with the Doncaster Junior League finals on May 6 and finishes on Sunday June 9 with the Curlys Athletes Doncaster half-marathon.

There are many stand out events within the festival including the Eve Merton Dreams Trust legends match. The match takes place on Saturday May 25 and pits the skills and talents of Rovers legends against those of Leeds United legends with all profits going to the Eve Merton trust a cancer charity operating in Doncaster.

Another charity hosting an event at the Festival of Sport are Doncaster Business 4 Community and both LNER and Stoneacre are hosting charity sports events to in order to raise money for local charities and schools.

Also on the list is the CEO Sleepout, an event which is encouraging chief executives of Doncaster businesses to spend a night sleeping outside in order to raise money for homeless charities. Among those signed up for the challenge are Dons chief executive Carl Hall, Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin, Club Doncaster Foundation chief executive Jim Lord, and group head of communications and marketing Shaun Lockwood.

The Festival of Sport will also play host to a number of cup finals including the Sheffield and Hallam County FA Final, Doncaster District FA final, and the Northern Counties East Football League Cup Final and, of course, the Keepmoat Cup – a two-day tournament held at the stadium.
