John Marquis says reaching 25 goals for the season was a special moment in what has been another good season for the striker.
2018/19 has been Marquis’ most successful season in a Rovers shirt scoring 25 goals and bagging seven assists across all competitions.
The no.9 has scored in 14 of Rovers' 20 league wins and Saturday’s goal marked his 61st league goal in 134 league appearances. He is also the first player to score more than 20 League goals for Rovers in the Third Tier since it became un-regionalised and is Rovers sixth all-time leading league goal scorer.
“In hindsight, my 25th goal was good – it was an important one. it gave us that two goal gap and I think for everyone in the stadium it was a bit of a relief,” Marquis said.
“It was obviously special for me as 25 is a great number but I want to add to it and I’ve got a couple more games to try and do that now.”
