McCann: We all have to stand up and be counted

Grant McCann has urged his players to leave everything on the pitch when Rovers face Charlton Athletic in the second leg of the Sky Bet League One play-off semi-final on Friday.

McCann expects his side to rise to the occasion in front of a sold out crowd at The Valley.

McCann said: “It will be a hostile environment but the players love these big occasions and I think they’ve shown that this year. It’s a one-off cup tie and we’ve done well in the cup this year – we’re a decent cup team –so we’ll just go about our business.

“We need everyone at their best on Friday, everyone needs to step up to the plate, play with freedom, play with expression, enjoy it, play with a smile on your face but know that you are going to run until you can’t run anymore.

“We have to stand up and be counted, I do, the players do, the staff do, we all do but we’re all looking forward to it, we’re excited and we will see what happens.”
