Amos looking to impress

19 November 2019

After making his Emirates FA Cup debut in the first game between Rovers and AFC Wimbledon last weekend, Danny Amos has his sights set on putting a regular run together in Darren Moore’s starting XI.

The young left back played 90 minutes and provided an assist for Tom Anderson’s goal and he says he enjoyed getting to grips with a fellow Sky Bet League One outfit.

“It was good to make my FA Cup debut, and I’ve been working hard since to put myself in with a chance for the replay,” he said.

“Wimbledon are a good team and established in the same league as us, they did well in the cup last year and named a strong team.

“As soon as I got in on Friday and got the call-up I was buzzing so it was a big moment for me to be involved.

The 19-year-old is competing for a place at left-back with Reece James, a man who has an abundance of league football under his belt.

“Reece has done really well since he’s come in and played virtually every game so it’s down to me to try and keep the pressure on but support him at the same time,” he said.

“He’s a good lad to have in the changing rooms as well, he’s a very experienced player and he’s willing to pass on his advice too.

“We watch clips together and seeing how he does things helps me develop and see where I can get better in different areas.”
