Chief executive's pride at fan engagement ranking

29 November 2019

Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin has spoken of his pride after the club were ranked as the third-best club in the country for fan engagement.

The Fan Engagement Index, created by Fan Insights, lists Rovers behind only supporter-owned clubs Exeter City and AFC Wimbledon for involving supporters, basing the rankings on dialogue, governance and transparency.

Rovers were ranked joint best clubs across the EFL and Premier League for dialogue and governance.

Gavin said: "It is really heartening to read the report and be highlighted as a market-leader, with the authors recognising us as a club who are always looking out for new ideas to make fan engagement work better.

"This is a detailed statistical analysis of the activities of all the clubs, looking much deeper than the pink and fluffy PR-driven stuff that is prevalent and holding us to account.

"The top two clubs are owned by their supporters trusts, so taking that into account we could not be ranked much higher. I'll be asking staff to look at this report and continue to push to ensure supporters are always at the forefront of our minds."

Writing in the report Kevin Rye, owner of Fan Insights, said: "Fan engagement is at the heart of a club's purpose and identity, and many of those who excel at fan engagement are often the ones we hold up as the best of most balanced clubs overall.

"They know how to manage the demands of fans with the reality of running the business itself. They also do well because they dedicate time and resources to it."
