Coppinger hoping to take momentum from Tuesday

23 November 2019

James Coppinger believes Saturday’s match against league leaders Wycombe Wanderers will be a challenging game.

Coppinger had a hand in both goals at the Keepmoat Stadium Tuesday night as Rovers’ second half performance blew away visitors AFC Wimbledon and the midfielder is hoping to use take that momentum into Saturday’s match.

“In the second half on Tuesday, we played some really good stuff – we’ve got that under our belt now and we’ll be going into Saturday very confident but every time I’ve played there it has been a difficult game,” he said.

“They have a lot of momentum, they’ve scored goals, and they’ve defended really well. They are where they are for a reason and they deserve to be there.

“We won’t be taking them lightly. We don’t think it will be anything but a difficult game, but we’ve prepared and we’re looking forward to it.”

Darren Moore has put in a lot of preparation for Saturday’s match something Coppinger revealed is not unusual for the gaffer.

“We’ve done our homework, we’ll do more Friday,” he added.

“The manager has an attention to detail. The detail he goes into is unbelievable everyone knows exactly what the plan is before we go on the pitch.

“It’s so good to be part of a team that are working as a team and performing together. We want to build something here. We’ve got a great work ethic.”
