Rovers extend Hasani contract

5 November 2019

Rovers have taken up a contract option on promising young midfielder Lirak Hasani which will see him continue his development at the club until at least 2022.

The 17-year-old caught fans’ attention last season after making his league debut aged just 16. Injury has kept him sidelined for much of the early part of the season, but he has been able to showcase what he is capable of in recent weeks impressing Darren Moore.

He had already signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year, which runs from the summer of 2020, and the manager has already exercised that to secure the midfielder's future at the club.

“I’m delighted for Lirak. He’s a young up and coming, excellent midfield player,” said Moore.

“He’s developing  really well, he’s getting stronger, and better and we feel he is an emerging talent at the football club so we’re glad to see him take up his option.”

Moore believes that now he has secured his deal, Hasani must set his sights on the first-team and work towards breaking into to the squad.

“For Lirak, he’s got to continue doing what he’s doing and keep looking to improve. His aim now has to be to try and force his way in and around our first team because he’s certainly got all the attributes and ability to do it,” he added.

“He’s just got to continue to keep working in the development squad. I’m sure if he continues to the line of progression that we’ve seen then we’ll see him and around it.”
