May progressing under Moore

2 November 2019

Alfie May feels he is a more polished player under Darren Moore.

The striker joined Rovers in January 2017 having impressed in non-league but he believes that while he has improved a lot in the last three years, but his confidence has grown enormously throughout the current campaign.

It’s been great working with the manager since he came in, I think he has made me a better player and has that trust and belief in everyone,” he said.

“That can go a long way in football and he is keen to get the message across that when you get in the final third you can look to express yourself.

“It’s a new position for myself and it means I’m touching the ball a lot more, I have felt already that I’ve progressed as a player under him.

The hard work is continuing for him, as he looks to add more goals to his game and repay the belief shown in him.

In front of goal this season I’m not afraid to shoot, and again that comes from the manager wanting us to be ruthless,” he added.

“Getting my first league goal of the season was playing on my mind a little bit but I felt confident going into that Southend game.

“Goals win you games and as a striker you get recognised for putting the ball in the back of the net so I want to keep adding to that.”
