Moore impressed by Gomes and Amos

12 November 2019

Darren Moore said he was pleased with how Danny Amos and Madger Gomes slotted into the Rovers side on Saturday.

Rovers were forced into three changes ahead of their Emirates FA Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon with Donervon Daniels missing out through injury and Ben Whiteman and Reece James – who had both played every minute of the league campaign – missing out through illness.

“Ben Whiteman and Reece James were both out and young Danny and Madger had to step in. I thought they both did really well,” said Moore.

“Madger can feel good about that performance. He played well, broke things up and him and Ben Sheaf had a good understanding of one another. You’d think that Gomes had been playing their all season.”

Moore also had praise for Joe Wright who got another 90 minutes under his belt.

“We needed both Tom Anderson and Joe because of the conditions and they were resolute,” he added.

“That was the first time that they’ve played together in the central defender partnership since pre-season so I’m sure they’ll look at that as something to build on in the coming weeks.

“Joe has been chomping at the bit to get a chance. Donervon pulled up with a slight groin strain and Joe stepped in and performed really well. I’m sure he’ll have enjoyed that game.”
