Moore looking forward to Emirates FA Cup

7 November 2019

Darren Moore says he wants his side to have the best cup run possible as he and his team prepare for a trip to AFC Wimbledon in the Emirates FA Cup.

Rovers got to the fifth round of the cup competition for the first time in 66 years last season but are up against a side with a proud FA Cup history.

“We want to do as well as we possibly can in the cup,” said Moore.

“The FA Cup is a fantastic competition and we’re looking forward to Saturday. It’s important to try and get a good cup run - not just for the club, but for the excitement it builds among supporters and the whole town.

“Wimbledon have got wonderful history in this competition. Every single year, the name is mentioned because of that famous cup final win.”

Moore has always said he’s looking forward to seeing Glyn Hodges who officially took charge of the Dons at the end of October.

“Hodges has shown the know-how and confidence and given the team some stability,” he added.

“It’s been a little while so it’ll be great to see him and I can only commend him on the good work that he’s done at the football club. It seems the side is in a happy place and obviously the good results will have helped that.

“We’ve got to go there, stay focused on our game – we know it will be a tough game because it’s a difficult place to go, but we’ve got to play to the best of our abilities and continue to improve on our season so far.”
