Moore: We want to stamp our authority on the game

18 November 2019

Darren Moore says his squad have used the break wisely ahead of Tuesday night’s Emirates FA Cup first round replay against AFC Wimbledon.

Rovers haven’t played since the first game between the two sides at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, and the manager says they have been working hard on the training ground.

He said: “We’ve tried to maintain our training levels in-between games and that has helped to keep us ticking over ahead of the replay.

“We’ve used different venues with the weather conditions, and that has included training at the stadium when the rain was at its worst.

“It’s not up to us and the authorities will dictate when we play the games we’ve had postponed, but I’m comfortable with that being the case.”

With a trip to either Gillingham or Sunderland facing the winners of Tuesday’s tie, Moore says he will play his strongest side at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “We’d like to stamp our authority on the game with us being at home, but I’m sure they’ll be coming here thinking the same thing.

“They’ve had a succession of games since we played them whereas we’ve been a bit stop-start which hasn’t helped our momentum.

“Hopefully this will be a period in the season where we can have a good continuity of games and build more as a team.”
