Officials confirmed for Gillingham (Emirates FA Cup)

27 November 2019

Darren Handley will be the man in charge when Rovers head to Priestfield Stadium on Sunday to face Gillingham in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Lancashire based official was promoted to the National List of Referees ahead of the 2014/15 season after several years of impressing in the National League.

Sunday’s match will be the 17th match that Handley has taken charge of this season. The last match he oversaw was in the Emirates FA Cup – a replay between Newport County and Grimsby Town. He gave out four yellow cards and one red in that match.

He has so far awarded 64 yellow cards and six reds.

This will be the first time Handley has taken charge of a Rovers match this season but he oversaw three matches in the 2017/18 season: a 2-0 home win over Bradford and a 4-1 home win over Southend in the league, and a 1-1 draw with Rochdale in the EFL Trophy.

Handley will be assisted by Nicholas Cooper, Andrew Laver and Steven Hughes.
