Moore expecting closely fought contest on Saturday

11 October 2019

Darren Moore has been impressed by the standard of Sky Bet League One football in the opening 10 games of the season.

Rovers currently sit three points outside the play-off places ahead of a trip to face Oxford United this weekend.

Moore said: “There are a lot of teams that will fancy their chances of promotion, things are starting to settle down and everyone is looking for that consistency in performances.”

“It will be closely fought and there won’t be much in it towards the top end, any team can take points off another.

“We’re still working on being smarter throughout games and I am seeing improvements as well as partnerships developing.”

Just goal difference separates the two sides heading into Saturday’s clash, and Moore says his opposite number Karl Robinson has done a good job at the Kassam Stadium.

He added: “They are a very good team and Karl knows the league very well, he has put together a really good team there.

“It’s no surprise that they have made a good start to the season, there is a clear structure to the way they play.

“They know their roles and responsibilities and carry a goal threat so it’s another game where we will have to be at our best to get the result.”
