Moore: Rovers taking nothing for granted

21 October 2019

Darren Moore says Rovers won’t be taking anything for granted when they take on Southend United on Tuesday night.

The Shrimpers have won just one of their opening 13 games in Sky Bet League One, but the manager believes they will be tough to beat at Roots Hall.

He said: “They haven’t had the best start to the season but they’re starting to improve and we will have to be at our best.

“We look at it as an opportunity for ourselves, it’s another difficult one because they will be confident of getting the win as well.

“From our point of view we have to go there and continue the work we’ve done so far, we have to go there and be ruthless with our game plan.”

After the 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers last time out, Moore says he has been impressed with his side’s ability to maintain high fitness levels throughout games.

He added: “It’s quite a gruelling fixture list but we can’t help that, I’m happy with the fitness levels so far this season.

“We work hard on making sure our levels are good, but at the same time we know when to rest the players and make sure they are ready to go.”
