Moore: Rovers will recover quickly

6 October 2019

Darren Moore was proud of his side’s display despite being beaten 2-1 by Portsmouth in Sky Bet League One.

Ellis Harrison’s injury-time header gave Pompey all three points, but Moore felt Rovers created enough chances to win the game themselves.

He said: “It was a game that I thought we dominated for long spells, we were controlling the majority of it and created chances but couldn’t take them.

“As the manager I’m proud of the team’s performance, we always go by how we play and I’m gutted for them that they haven’t taken anything from the game.

“We’ve hit the bar twice and threatened all afternoon so it wasn’t our day, we created chances against a defensive unit that came to try and nullify our threat.”

The loss was just Rovers’ second in their opening 10 league games, and Moore says they will recover quickly with games coming up thick and fast.

He added: “We continue to work and look to improve, we’re getting in the right areas and that is the pleasing thing from my point of view.

“We analyse the opposition each week and see where we can hurt them, we did that against Portsmouth and the only thing lacking was the three points.”
