Josh Smith will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to Southend United in Sky Bet League One.
Smith was promoted to the National List of Referees in the summer following a successful season in the National League. Tuesday’s match will be the second time he has officiated League One after taking charge of Lincoln City’s 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
The man from Bourne is highly thought of and has progressed from the junior district league to League Football in just 12 years.
Last season, he handed out 75 yellow cards and five reds and he has never overseen a Rovers match.
The assistant referees are Carl Fitch-Jackson and Leigh Crowhurst. The fourth official is Stephen Finch.
