Halliday pleased with start to Rovers career

6 September 2019

Brad Halliday has said he is looking forward to his first taste of derby football when Rovers welcome Rotherham United on Saturday.

The right-back has played every minute of Rovers’ current campaign but has said he’s looking forward to testing himself against the former Championship side.

“The match with Rotherham should be a good one. We had a bit of a derby feel against Lincoln but obviously Rotherham are a big team and they’ve just come down from the Championship. They’ll have a lot of support backing them, but I’m just looking forward to it,” he said.

“They’re a big team, they’re direct, and they go from back to front quite quickly - we need to be ready for that. This will be my first derby, I’ve spent a lot of time in League Two and the higher you go up the leagues, the bigger the derbies become.

“We want to win every game so our mindset going into this game or any game is that we want three points.”

Halliday arrived at Doncaster in the summer after impressing for League Two side Cambridge United and has said he is pleased with how things are going both for the team and personally.

“We’re on a good run at the minute. We’ve started the season well - we're unbeaten at home and unbeaten in the league,” he said.

“I’m pleased with how the season is going. I want to play every game and that’s what I’m doing at the moment but in terms of performances, I’ve got a lot more to give. I feel like I can get better but I’ll do that with each game.

“I want to get forward and get involved with a few more goals, some assists even some goals myself and obviously we want to keep the backdoor shut. We’ve conceded a couple of goals at the back post so we’ve got to do better but other than that, I’ll get stronger with each game.  It is a step up to league one. There’s a lot more quality within the league, the players are better, the teams are better but I think in terms of our team, we’re up there with the best.”
