Rovers U23s kick off their 2019/20 season on Tuesday evening as they welcome Portsmouth U23s to the Keepmoat Stadium for the first group game of the Premier League Cup. Kick-off 7pm.

The competition began has a U21s tournament in 2013 as an U21 equivalent to the FA Youth Cup. In 2016, the competition age was upped to U23. Everton are the current holders after they defeated Newcastle United in the final last season.

The standard of the competition is higher than Rovers U23s will be used to in Central Development League and will see them pit themselves against some of the most promising stars from England’s top division. Last season’s competition included a Wolves team consisting of both Cameron John and Niall Ennis.

Rovers’ group includes fellow League One side Portsmouth as well as League Two Exeter the latter of which have an impressive record of bringing young players into the professional game. Also, in the group are Premier League Aston Villa who won the competition in the 2017/18 season.

Rovers will play the three teams home and away with all home matches played at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Club Doncaster Box Office will not be open on the evening of September 24. Supporters looking to purchase tickets on the evening of the game will be able to do so at the turnstiles with Season Ticket holders gaining free entry upon showing their season ticket book.
