Following the cancellation of Rovers U23s Premier League Cup match against Portsmouth U23s, due to take place on September 10, Rovers have been placed in Group D.
After another team pulled out of the competition, both Rovers and Portsmouth were given a bye to the group stages.
Rovers have been placed in Group D alongside Portsmouth and Aston Villa and will be joined by the winner of a determining round match between Cambridge United and Exeter City taking place September 10.
Rovers first match of the group stage will be against Portsmouth. The match will take place between October 3-6 and will be played at the Keepmoat Stadium.
