Rovers Academy Foundation and Development phases started their scheduled matches on Sunday September 1 with friendlies against Scunthorpe United.
The teams acquitted themselves admirably and were already showing signs of trying to play football the Doncaster Rovers way.
U13s coach Richard Anderson said: “The lads have obviously paid attention to the work we have done in training. Some of the play was exactly what we have worked on.
“It really is pleasing to see our young players listening and understanding what is required and game play gives us an opportunity to prove to the players that if they pay attention and apply themselves they can have a good season and learn a lot.
“The lads should enjoy the feeling they get playing games because that’s what it’s all about.”
