Rian McLean’s excellent strike against Portsmouth in the Premier League Cup has won the U23s goal vote.
The centre-back’s volley from the edge of the box helped the U23s to a 4-1 win over their south coast opponents as they secured their place in the knockout stages of the competition for the first time.
Supporters were asked to choose from the U23s goals which were scored in January and February but all goals scored by trialists and regular first-team players were disqualified.
The lion’s share of the votes were shared among the top three goals all of which were scored in the Premier League Cup competition. Danny Amos’ similar effort from earlier in the Portsmouth game came in third while Max Watters second against Aston Villa made him the vote's runner-up.
