Ben Whiteman joins the best players from across the EFL’s 71 clubs to make up the EA Sports Team of the Season So Far.

The 23-year-old has proved himself one of Sky Bet League One’s most consistent performers and Darren Moore believes that his captain’s inclusion in the team is well-deserved.

“It’s absolutely fantastic news,” he said.

“It’s incredible for him to be nominated with the Championship players, with the array of talent there - to be nominated in the EFL Team of the Season is massive. Huge praise for Ben.

“It’s also excellent for us as a football club, in terms of having one of our players nominated. I’m really, really pleased and delighted for Ben and for everyone at the club because we can all share in his recognition.”

Whiteman has played a key role for Rovers in the 2019/20 season and Moore believes his leadership skills have shone through.

“Ben has epitomised why we have made him the skipper and asked him to lead the team this season. His leadership skills on and off the field have been crucial and he’s played his part towards what has been a positive season for Doncaster Rovers so far,” Moore added

“For him to get recognition in the Team of the Season So Far shows in volumes the maturity of the performances that he’s been showing over the course of the season and credit to him.

“We’re all pleased and delighted - his performances have been up there with some of the best midfielders in the division and we believe we have one of the best midfielders in the division in Ben.”
