Bert Anderson born April 23, 1926
One of several players recruited from Ireland by manager Peter Doherty, Londonderry-born Bert signed for Rovers in November 1949 but didn’t make his League debut until a year later when he played in a 2-0 win over Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s.
Bert was deputy at left-back to his fellow countryman Len Graham, and such was Len’s form that Bert made only three first team appearances for Rovers over two seasons. In 1952 he returned to Northern Ireland, where he died in 1986, aged 60.
