Rover of the Day: Bruce Dyer

13 April 2020

Bruce Dyer born on April 13 1975

Hailing from Ilford, striker Bruce had enjoyed lengthy spells with Watford, Crystal Palace and Barnsley before joining Rovers from Sheffield United in July 2006.

The former England Under-21 international made a promising start to his Rovers career, scoring in only his second appearance, a 3-1 home victory over Crewe Alexandra in August 2006.

However, his stay at Rovers was blighted by injury, although later in the 2006-07 season he had a loan spell with Bradford City.

In 2007-08 he made only one first team appearance before going on loan to Rotherham United, and in December 2008 he was released by Rovers.

After spells at Chesterfield and York City he retired from the game aged 33. His record for Rovers was one goal in 18 senior appearances. He now lives in Barnsley and is a sports and community coach.
