Dave Wignall born April 3, 1959
The younger brother of Steve, who played for and later managed Rovers, Wallasey-born Dave came through the youth ranks at Rovers and made his League debut as a 16-year-old in March 1976.
The midfielder scored in only his third appearance, a 3-3 draw at Cambridge United, but this was to be his only goal for Rovers. Also deployed at right-back at times, he failed to establish himself as a regular in three seasons at Belle Vue and was released in June 1978 after making 46 senior appearances.
He moved on briefly to Colchester United and Gainsborough Trinity but enjoyed two spells with Caernarfon Town, helping them reach the Third Round proper of the FA Cup in 1986-87, a run which included victories over Football League sides Stockport County and York City.
