Rover of the Day: Don Peatie

5 April 2020

Don Peatie born April 5 1963

Striker Don was born in York and joined Sheffield United in August 1984 after playing for Northern League side Gretna.

He made only a handful of appearances for the Blades and in January 1986 he was loaned to Rovers for a month, making his debut in a Football League Trophy defeat at Notts County. He failed to find the net in six appearances for Rovers and his loan was not extended.

He later played in the Northern League again, notably with Newcastle Blue Star and North Shields, before embarking on a career in sports education. He is currently Sunderland’s Academy Head of Education and Welfare.
