26 April 2020

John Muir born April 26, 1963

A former England Under-19 basketball player, John started his football career with Wolves before playing for numerous non-League sides in the West Midlands.

In February 1990, when he was 26, Billy Bremner signed him for Rovers and John made an immediate impression with his direct and powerful forward play. Playing alongside another physical striker in David Jones, John was Rovers’ top scorer in 1990-91 with 15 goals, as the team led the Fourth Division on several occasions.

In February 1992 he was transferred to Stockport County and subsequently he played in Malta and Hong Kong before returning to non-League football in the Midlands.

His overall record for Rovers was 20 goals in 84 senior appearances.
