Walter Kelly born on April 15, 1928
Scotsman Walter began his career with Raith Rovers before moving south to join Bury, then in Division Two. In 1955-56 the centre-forward scored 28 League goals, helping Bury into 15th place.
Following their relegation, a year later, he signed for Rovers and made his debut in August 1957 away to Rotherham United.
In a struggling team his goalscoring record was rather disappointing, only six goals coming in 30 senior appearances. Rovers were relegated from Division Two at the end of the season and Walter moved on to Stockport County and then to Chester. His career record was 119 goals in 291 League games. He died in 1993, aged 63.
