Rovers U18s have been showing off their culinary skills in a team competition to be crowned the best chef.

The players were asked to film themselves demonstrating how to cook their favourite meal and the boys delivered with a varying degree of talent and effort.

The videos will be put on the Academy Twitter page from Monday in four preliminary rounds with supporters able to vote for their favourite in a poll.

The winner of each preliminary round will be entered into a final and the winner will be crowned U18s Cooking Champion.

Head of sports science Daniel Solts said: “Academy football is about a lot more than just what the players can do on the pitch. A lot of work is off the field and focuses on building life skills – like cooking.

“While everyone is in isolation, we wanted to create a fun way for the players to show off and practice their cooking skills and also help out their families in the kitchen.

“We’ve been really impressed with the entries – some for the excellent cooking skills, some for the presentation!”

The overall winner will get a cinema voucher to be used once the government imposed self-isolation rules are lifted and the whole team will be treated to a trip to Nandos.
